Practise makes perfect.
As part of my musical education, I have “re-scored” a variety of existing scenes and short films to demonstrate my take on them and challenge myself to create something new from an existing vision. These are purely for educational purposes and not for commercial use.
No Country for old men.
In this scene, tension and violence are front and centre. This was a particular challenge given the lack of music in the original version of the film. In using low drones and high strings I leant into the tension of the scene and instilled discomfort in the audience through use of dissonance and simple melodies.
1917
1917 is a heart wrenching and epic war film and the original score by Thomas Newman is equally dramatic as it is delicate and moving. This reimagined trailer really aims to speak to the chaos and acts of heroism in the film.
This scene in contrast to the 1917 trailer and No Country For Old Men, is an exercise in restraint. It is a dialogue heavy scene with an element of tension, melancholy and unease. I used synths and drones as well as a high pitched, piercing sound to emphasise the discomfort of the main character.
The american
This is a short film called “Grade-A Students” which was directed by Cameron Perry. I scored it and submitted it for the Indie Film Music Contest 2026. All music is my own and not the original music from the film and is not intended for any commercial purposes.
